deeply coffee

Drawing from the intimate, cozy coffee culture of Copenhagen, Deeply is designed around the ritual of small-scale brewing and the social rhythms it inspires. More than just a place to enjoy coffee, the space is conceived with community in mind through its layered programming and distinct seating zones. The venue functions as a coffee house, a library, a meeting place, and a boutique beans and bottle shop.

Upon entering, the room’s symmetrical composition immediately conveys a sense of balance and calm. This orderly arrangement forms the underlying framework for the floor plan. The ordering counter, at the heart of operations, establishes visual hierarchy with its stainless-steel top and green-tile facing. This green monolith not only delineates the working zones from the public areas but also provides a clear visual cue for how the space functions. Its visual prominence signals the counter as the central hub of activity.

The space emphasizes warmth, community, and connection, expressed through a series of distinct seating zones. One such zone includes a reading table and a library wall. The built-in shelving with its carefully curated collection of tomes is outfitted with books on leisure and the arts. With its groupings of low tables and lounge chairs, the seating arrangement in the center of the space offers a more communal experience. Lastly, the seating along the banquette allows guests to enjoy their coffee at their very own private table.

In Danish, “hygge” is a quality of coziness and comfort that fosters contentment or well-being. We sought to capture this sense of coziness through carefully chosen materials, curated décor, and the generous presence of natural light. Deeply’s material palette is rooted in Danish sensibilities: warm woods and soft whites are juxtaposed with cool, moody greens. Scandinavian-inspired furnishings and minimalist lighting create a restrained yet welcoming environment. Natural light plays an activating role, animating the materials throughout the day. Sunlight enriches the wood surfaces, while the dark tile deepens in tone and reflectivity, producing subtle shifts in mood and character. This dynamic interaction between light and material reinforces the sense of time passing and anchors the café in the daily rhythms of its patrons. The design cultivates an environment that feels grounded and timeless—warmly Scandinavian in spirit, yet thoughtfully tailored to its local community.
